The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency for the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (say that five times fast) has awarded Chisago County with federal funds to help improve and expand emergency food/shelter programs in high need areas.
Chisago County was deemed one of those high need areas around the country. Now, the Chisago Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board will decipher where the funds will be allocated to the county’s shelters.
On January 24, 2013, at 10 am, the board will be surveying those needy areas. But in order to be considered, the board needs applications from potential in need agencies. Those agencies must meet certain qualifications, like being eligible to receive the federal funds, practicing non-discrimination, and being voluntary non-profit. Those who meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply for the federal funding, but applications must be sent in by January 22.
The applications can be found at www.lakesandpines.org, or you can call Lakes and Pines at 1-800-832-6082, ext 119.
